The HDS Portable Workbench is a compact, portable woodworking work surface built on the HDS Hold Down System — a precision 20mm dog hole grid with integrated clamping slots. It turns any flat surface into a professional-grade woodworking station in under 60 seconds, without the bulk or cost of a full MFT table.

Setup takes under 60 seconds. The two CNC-machined boards connect with four bolts — no tools needed after first assembly. When you're done, it flat-packs into two compact boards for easy storage or transport.

The HDS Portable Workbench is 575mm wide × 480mm deep, with a 288mm front overhang designed for secure vertical clamping. It sits on top of any flat surface — a table, sawhorse, or workbench.

It's CNC-machined from 25mm MDF in the UK, giving it a flat, consistent surface with precise dog hole placement. It's built to handle everyday DIY and woodworking tasks including planing, sawing, routing, and assembly.

The HDS dog holes are 20mm in diameter and spaced at 96mm intervals, measured centre to centre. This makes HDS compatible with most third-party bench dogs and accessories designed for a 20mm hole system with 96mm spacing.

The HDS slots use a 14mm dovetail profile, typically measuring 14mm wide at the base, 10mm wide at the opening and 9mm deep.

We’ve tested several track and table clamp designs and found them to work with these slot dimensions. However, we haven’t tested every clamp available, so please check your clamp’s dimensions before purchasing to ensure a suitable fit.
